Spa And Hot Tub Painting DIY

January 31, 2010

Spas And Hot Tubs provide much needed comfort at the end of a long days work. Relaxing in an old outdated or damaged Hot Tub is not my idea of a soothing soak.

Old damaged and just plain ugly spas can be renewed by refinishing or painting them. Repairs to damaged spa surfaces can also be renewed in munutes with professional repair kits from the Bathtub Refinishing Referral Network.

The products offered for reglazing a spa are inexpensive and repairs will last over 10 plus years. Repair cracks, holes, delaminated fiberglass, dull and dingy paint in minutes.

Painting a spa or hot tub is very simple. The kits include a 2 part spa and hot tub paint, hardener and tints come in many colors. All you need is a plastic bucket to hold the paint, mixing stick, a dense foam roller and pad for application. Easy to follow step by step instructions are included with each spa refinishing kit. Once prep is completed you just mix and apply the paint in 2 coats thats it.

The paint will dry in 24 to 36 hours depending on temperature and humidity. The results are amazing. The finish is high gloss and very durable. The coatings are waterproof, chemical and heat resistant. You may use spa and hot tub painting kits on fiberglass, acrylic, gelcoat, concrete to gunite surfaces. Many commercial property management companies use these kits to keep their spas looking new all year long.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these kits or would like more information visit http://www.refinishingonline.com

Obama Changes Space Program Forever

Not satisfied with just changing America as we know it, Barack Obama has announced cuts to our space program. He will end NASA’s plan to return to the moon in 2020 and wants commercial alternatives to space flight in the future.

Mr. Obama has grand plans of his own for the space program. He wants it commercialized. Thats right, Obama wants NASA dismantled and private business to take over and invest in the space program. He also wants more international cooperation and investment.

Obama did budget $5.9B for NASA but the money is not for space exploration, it is for NASA to help develope commercial rockets. These rockets would probably be sponsored by private companies or other countries who are willing to invest in the program. If Obama gets his way the space program as we know will be over.

Our aging fleet of Space Shuttles will be shelved and Obama expects the first commercial flights to the International Space Station to begin by 2015.

In Obama’s State Of The Union Speech he said the United States will not come in 2nd place to anyone. How are we to beleive this when he has given China and Russia the opportunity to take the lead in space exploration.

NASA is very concerned about the jobs that would be lost with such a move and fear the local economy will be effected in Florida and Houston.

Fire Prevention – Clothes Dryer Maintenance

January 30, 2010

117 clothes dryer fires were reported in the state of Massachusettes alone in 2007. These fires could have been prevented with proper maintenance and cleaning.

Clean the Lint Filter After Every Load

The public should be reminded to clean the dryer filter screen after each load of laundry, to clean the outside vents twice a year and to occasionally vacuum the motor area of the dryer. If materials such as cooking oil, solvents and other combustible or flammable liquids were not removed completely during the laundry cycle, heat from the dryer may cause them to ignite.

This is the reason that mop heads should not be put into the dryer. An adult should be at home whenever the dryer is in use and the home should have working smoke alarms.

Dryer Fires Prevention Tips At-A-Glance

Clean the filter screen after each load to prevent lint buildup, which can cause fires.

Stay home when the dryer is in use.

Clean the vents to outside twice a year to clean out any accumulated dust and lint.

Vacuum the motor area. The dust and lint in the vent area can ignite if it gets hot. You may need to remove a panel in order to get to the motor area.

Commercial dryers should be cleaned out regularly because of their frequent use and shared venting system.

Don’t dry mop heads in the dryer! The dryer’s heat can ignite the chemical residue on mop heads.

Keep the surrounding area clean. The dryer’s heat may ignite anything left too close to the dryer.

News Channel 19: Could Your Dryer Catch on Fire?

Clothes dryer fires are one of the most common causes of house fires. Last year, more than 17,000 house fires were caused by a clothes dryer, costing homeowners more than $95,000,000 in damages. Last month, NewsChannel 19’s own Kym Richardson was one of those homeowners whose house caught fire because of a dryer.
